XenForo 1.3 General Discussion & Feedback

Only had one issue. Members couldn't register. Must've clashed with an addon. I fixed this issue in Xenforo Beta 2. I wonder if I've had this issue since Beta 3.

My new board on 1.3 b3 has the "Mandatory Location" plugin enabled and registrations seem fine?

When upgrading in the past, wasn't there a generic closed message displayed to the user when the upgrade files were FTP'ed to the server but the /install script not run yet? Updating to B4 tonight I noticed that none of my sites were displaying any type of closed message while in the scenario but I thought XF used to.

Am I thinking of something of else? If not, has anybody else noticed if their site displays a generic message after FTP'ing the upgrade files but before running /install?

Maybe you have $config['checkVersion'] set to false in your config?

You will just see a notice saying an upgrade is in progress. Your users will see a board closed message.

If you are upgrading from 1.2, the message will not appear (you're missing the required template in that situation).

Quick! Are you sure there's no more grammatical issues that need to be fixed before RC1!?

Yes, but are you seeing the stock message displayed or nothing in the main content area?
Typically I do an htaccess redirect during upgrades to a construction page. That way not only is there a nice little page telling people exactly what's going on and it being not dependent on Xenforo. I also prevent anyone managing to screw something up for me. You can have 1 or more IPs not be redirected so that you and you alone can access the site during the upgrade.

RC1 ? Not familiar with that.

What is a Release Candidate?

After a number of beta releases, the functionality of the product should be complete and the rate of bugs being reported (should) slow to a trickle, allowing the development team to work through the backlog and reduce the number of bugs to a handful.

This means that the software is proposed as stable, and a period of time is allowed to verify the proposal. If no major bugs are found during that period, the software will be released. If bugs are found that are considered sufficiently important to delay the release, we will see another release candidate. This process continues until no significant bugs are discovered during the probation period for the latest release candidate.
