i have heard from several people saying the same thing.
and also read a lot of bad about them.
the tech radar pro article i read when i was looking seems par for the course.

Namecheap's hosting doesn't quite have the power or features you will see with the best of the competition, but it could be a smart value choice for first-timers with relatively basic sites, or a business who can make use of it's more powerful dedicated hosting range.

looks ok for a beginner site but i read when traffic gets heavy they push you to upgrade.
and it is not because of traffic but because of them.
