Registration Form Timer 2.0

No permission to download
I need to check the order but I am seeing huge amounts of blocks being performed by XenUtiles and SFS/BS.

I saw the same thing with both addons active. With only RFT 2.0 active, its log file grows much faster, not quite as many blocked attempts listsed as with SFS, but no spammers have made it through. Stopbotters seems to be very effective.

If I install this, will it play nicely with XenUtiles or do I need to choose between StopBotters and XenUtiles?

Then it's working as expected T, I still don't push Console Forums (so basically everything is a bot) and XenUtiles has basically caught every single robot registration.

Hi Chris,

It would be great if this add on was integrated with the Statistics feature of XenForo so admins can see how many registrations are being blocked daily with this add on. Not sure if it has been suggested before, but maybe have statistical data for:

  • RegFormTimer: Blocked registrations (Time)
  • RegFormTimer: Blocked registrations (Stopbotters)
Just an idea. :)

I installed this a couple days ago and so far it has caught 100% of bot registrations. Awesome! Thank you Chris (y)

Is anybody recommending one action over the other: Error, Redirect, or Success? If it does not matter perhaps a random choice would confuse the bots even more.

Ultimately it doesn't matter...

Like the random choice idea (y)

I was going to send 'em on a Twitter search for goatse, but decided on the extremely rare chance I DID get a user who filled it out in under 15 seconds, it's not the thing to send 'em to. :ROFLMAO:

And as for the random suggestion, how about a 4th option that completely randomizes what the spam bot gets? :D

You either stop using this add-on and lose the StopBotters functionality (bear in mind this API actually catches a lot of spammers that the timer alone doesn't) or you carry on using this add-on and disable the default timer by setting its time to 0.

Perhaps to block the username in case the bot is smart enough to try again later with a longer timer?

Which is pointless if the API is doing its job. Allowing the registration only to immediately ban it just sucks up valuable real estate in the database.

What would be the point in that?

I have something setup like this on my VB forum with the "isBot" hack. I have a bot user group and can see how many bots register and usernames and emails are "reserved". I also get notifications when they login.
