Central Registration System

A central registration system would be most appreciated. This way I can hook several XF forums together to power a small network of forums . Or any future XF products

This would be a dream come true for me.
On my board, member has a lot of fields to enter and registration takes some time because we manually approve each member. I don't want to a member through the whole registration process for each of my site.

If this works, I would also get more xF licenses to expand my network of forum sites. Good for Mike and Kier too.

Oh.. and with this feature, if you enter an email which is already on another of your network sites, it automatically tells the member that and activates the account on the new site without needing to fill the common profile fields. Well this would be expected with such a feature anyway right?

If this is an addon, I will buy it when I can afford it, I promise.

If they added this, I'd probably be buying 5+ between release and next summer.

This would be a great idea, but would it just be the username and login details that are shared or would you have shared statistics, personal conversations, etc?

I would also say that this is a great selling point, while most people may only have one forum many have ideas of grandeur when they first start out and would buy into the whole idea of expandability.

I like the idea, creating a federation of boards always helps users adopt the new sites as there is no additional registration process etc...

Let me just say that this would be my first big request!

"Multisite Login allows a user to login to all sites in a multisite configuration, even though the multisites do not share domain names."

Each site would require a separate license. That way you can operate a network of communities and members can easily move in and out of the communities in your network without having to create a new account. This will promote forum growth by lowering the barriers to posting, i.e. attention span to get over a hurdle, like registration/confirmation, just to post a thought. Make it easy.

It is also imperative that this be supported by the software developer.

Big thumbs up. If I knew how to like this post other than through facebook, it would be done!

Edit: I guess you have to like individual posts? If so, I figured that out. Is there a way to like the thread as a whole?

I don't see it as reinventing the wheel because OpenID would require you to register with each forum that makes up your site. A username would not be reserved for that particular user.

Unless the only place you could register a new username was the "Primary" forum... and all the others sent you through that system....

As much as I like that Mez, I think the challenge is that anyone could visit your forums, whether it be a primary forum, or a secondary forum and register there. However who knows when they would go to another secondary forum, or they would visit your primary forum. It's best for the registration system to be it's own independent system and allow forums to interact with the registration system for user information

The secondarys would shove the registration through the primary.
