******* add-on cannot be uninstalled

Also, @Mike Creuzer you aren't the first person to have had a bad experience: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/*******-magnesium-paid.81907/
There are others also.. I started one a few months ago myself.. However since im mostly code illiterate and couldn't really point out specifics the inquiry was pretty much dismissed as paranoia by most everyone.. Its about time there is some kind of discussion on these practices.. I believe full disclosure at minimum should be implemented as a requirement to list a resource on XenForo's official forums.

Well, there's no relevant method, as such. You can inject anything directly into the database, templates, code event listeners, template modifications... Doesn't mean you ever should...

Ah, yeah - I was referring to the XenForo_CodeEvent::addListener() method.

I just uninstalled my last ******* add-on. For a while I've been seeing the occasional comment or thread that has sketched me out as to their practices.

Frankly, the effort to weed out pirates is rarely warranted. Those that would pirate are typically not going to ever become legitimate customers, and most piracy measures just make life difficult for real users.

My forum has been active since 2001. A lot of companies have come and gone in that time. Why do I want an add-on whose activation servers may not be around down the road?

I somewhat understand using a call home before installing. I however do not get the logic behind requiring an active license to uninstall it. It makes no sense in regards to anti piracy; "you don't have a license? You're suck using the add on, that will teach you!".

@*******, do you have anything at all to say on this topic?

VERY Disappointed to hear this. As a purchaser of multiple @******* addons, i will not be renewing my licences for them once they lapse or support him in any future addons unless this practice is removed. There should NEVER be a callback to uninstall a product.

Also with every update of a product he adds more and more silent home calls.

He clearly focuses a lot more in data sniffing and collecting than in just protecting his code. Just be careful even with updates.
Did you see our source code and understand what we said with you ? We didn't encode any lines in our products and we didn't collect any your sensity informations. Everything is publicity.

This is why his license for our product are being revoked when he colluded to do a unfair action by made a unreal review.

Excuse me? Unreal review? That's ********. Tell me one line in there that is unreal.

You can revoke any license I have, I don't care. I got a refund. I uninstalled that "theme", and removed any thought of it from my server.

My review is 100% legit. I have no issues with anything I stated in it, and can back up every single bit of what I stated. It did seem strange to me that you continually wanted access to my FTP, AdminCP to debug, yet when I stood my ground and stated I knew what I was doing, that I had installed many themes before, that a file was sent that magically started working and installing fine.

I will not ever purchase a single add-on of yours again, I will highly suggest to everyone I run across to stay as far away from any of your add-ons as possible.

Please, I am dying for you to explain to me, and anyone reading, how that review posted is an "unreal review".

Also, if you have an issue with my review. REPORT IT. Please do. I'm tired of all this crying about reviews as it is. I posted a legit one for the "product" I purchased. If it is decided that the review is unreal, a moderator can delete it or deal with it as they see fit.

Perhaps you should put more work into what you are selling instead of focusing on calling home.

We will do it.

If people write a bad review of our products, which thankfully is once in a blue moon, I would never revoke their license. They paid for it. If they had an issue with me they should have worked it out peacefully. Perhaps we would have given them a refund, but we would never revoke the product if it was our fault. That is poor.

Also, nothing was shared with me. All the information I got about this issue was from your documentation. I have no files for any of your products.

And you gave me a license to the statistics plugin as people were complaining about bugs with it.

Glad I never put my money on the products ******* created. Sorry to hear about what others have found out.

@All: We're regret to hearing bad experience from you. Thanks for your report & feedback. We have noted your feedback. Let us try next update.

@Mike Creuzer: added your domain again. Now you can uninstall our product.
