I do appreciate it's a little confusing, but given this is the first time this has come up in 13 years I think it's easier to just explain why it happened than over-complicate the way we track and store the selected option. Both internally and externally, selecting a predefined class name or entering one manually will have the same end result anyway. The same class will be applied, and the appearance (customized or not) will be the same.
